To the right, the redemption text, issue date of 21 April 1920, and two manuscript facsimile signatures of municipal officials are set out in Gothic script, with the notation 'Zweite Auflage' (second issue) at foot centre. |

Waizenkirchen is a small market town in Upper Austria, and like hundreds of Austrian municipalities in 1920, it issued its own emergency small change — Notgeld — to compensate for the near-total disappearance of metal coinage after the First World War. These hyper-local issues were produced in enormous variety across the former Habsburg lands, and the Waizenkirchen 10 Heller falls squarely within that wave.
