Taufkirchen an der Trattnach is a small Upper Austrian municipality, and this 10 Heller note is a product of the Notgeld wave that swept Austria in 1920 as chronic coin shortages — worsened by the economic dislocation following the collapse of the Habsburg state — forced local communities to print their own small-denomination emergency scrip. The Druckverein-Druckerei Grieskirchen, a cooperative press in the regional center roughly twelve kilometers away, handled production for several such communes in the area.
The JPR reference places it squarely in Jaksch/Pick's Austrian notgeld catalogue, the standard authority for this material.
