Opmerkingen

Schwaz, once the silver-mining capital of Europe and among the wealthiest towns on the continent in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, had by 1921 been reduced to issuing its own emergency paper in Heller denominations — a currency unit that the Austrian federal government would abolish entirely before the year was out. These Notgeld issues filled a genuine gap: post-war coin shortages left small transactions nearly impossible, and municipalities across the former Habsburg lands printed their own stopgap scrip by the hundreds.

Wagner of Innsbruck handled a considerable volume of Tyrolean municipal Notgeld during this period. The JPR0983c suffix designates this as the third color or printing variant within the Schwaz 10 Heller grouping.
