Rossatz is a small wine-growing village on the south bank of the Danube in the Wachau, directly opposite Dürnstein. Its Heller notgeld belongs to the wave of Austrian municipal emergency currency issued from 1920 onward, when the postwar collapse of the krone left small communities without adequate coinage for daily transactions. The Marktgemeinde — a market township of no great size — produced these notes locally to fill that gap, as hundreds of comparable Austrian villages did in the same period.
The JPR reference places this squarely in the Jaksch-Pick Austrian notgeld catalog. Nothing in the available data points to unusual printing, a known error, or any particular scarcity within the series.
