A central vignette presents a portrait bust of a male figure set within an ornate arch with scrollwork, flanked on either side by circular guilloche rosettes bearing the denomination numeral '10' with the abbreviated legend 'Hel-' and '-ler'. Below the portrait, a ribbon scroll carries the motto 'Zusammhalten müssen wir' and a small landscape vignette; the lower portion bears the liability text of the Gemeinde Hinzenbach and a facsimile mayoral signature. |

Hinzenbach is a small village in Upper Austria — today little more than a parish within Eferding — which makes the existence of this note a useful illustration of just how far Austria's postwar emergency currency crisis reached. By 1920, the collapse of the Habsburg monetary system had created such severe coin shortages that even settlements of a few hundred souls were authorized to issue their own Notgeld. Lanz, the local Eferding printer responsible for this piece, produced emergency currency for several municipalities in the immediate district during this period.
The 10 Heller denomination was among the most practical for small transactions, which likely means this issue circulated hard before being redeemed.
