Hinterstoder is a small alpine village in Upper Austria, and its 1920 Heller notes belong to the vast wave of Austrian municipal notgeld issued after the collapse of the Habsburg empire left local communities without sufficient small change. Josef Feichtingers Erben was a Linz printing firm that produced notgeld for numerous Upper Austrian communities during this period — their output was competent but not distinctive.
The JPR0377d series distinguishes Hinterstoder's issues by color variant. The brown 10 Heller is one of several denominations authorized under Hans Hacke's signature as municipal representative.
