Beschrijving voorzijde Notgeld voucher printed in black and blue on buff paper, divided into three vertical panels: the outer left and right panels each bear a bold numeral '10' above the denomination 'ZEHN HELLER', with the right panel rendered in blue within a guilloche-style ornamental cartouche. The central vignette presents a letterpress illustration of the local parish church with a bare-branched tree in the foreground, set within a decorative arched frame, surmounted by the issuer legend 'GUTSCHEIN DER GEMEINDE ENZESFELD' and a municipal guarantee clause along the lower margin. Three manuscript signatures of municipal officials — identified as the Vizebürgermeister, Bürgermeister, and Geschäftsführender Gemeinderat — appear across the bottom, with the designer's name ROBERT LEITNER printed beneath.

Opmerkingen

Enzesfeld is a small industrial village in Lower Austria, best known in the interwar period for the Rothschild-owned Enzesfeld Metallwerke, a major cartridge and metalworks factory. This Heller note is a Notgeld issue — emergency municipal currency printed to relieve a catastrophic coin shortage that gripped Austria in the immediate aftermath of the First World War. The central government could not produce fractional coinage fast enough, and hundreds of small municipalities filled the gap themselves.

F. Seitenberger was a Baden-based printer who handled a number of these local Lower Austrian Notgeld contracts. Robert Leitner's designer credit distinguishes this from the purely utilitarian pieces churned out by some municipalities with no artistic input at all.
