Comments

Brunn am Gebirge, south of Vienna, housed one of the Austro-Hungarian military's internment and labor camp complexes during the First World War. The Gewerbelager — literally a trade or industrial camp — issued its own fractional scrip to facilitate internal commerce, bypassing the need for official coinage that was increasingly being hoarded or melted as the war dragged on and metal shortages worsened.

The dual-signature arrangement, with a Verwaltungsoffizier countersigning beneath the Lagerkommandant, reflects standard k.u.k. administrative protocol for accountability in camp finance. Puskás and Gusell are the only names attached to the entire Camb#1516 series.
