Bruck im Pinzgau lies in the Salzburg district of Zell am See, and like hundreds of Austrian municipalities it resorted to printing its own emergency currency — Notgeld — during and after the First World War when small-denomination coinage disappeared entirely from circulation. These municipal issues were never sanctioned by any central banking authority; they ran on nothing more than local trust and the mayor's signature.
Anton Posch signed as Bürgermeister, lending whatever official weight a village administrator could muster. The Jaksc/Pick reference places this squarely in the documented Austrian local Notgeld corpus, but individual print runs for Pinzgau valley communities were typically tiny.
