The denomination '10 HELLER' appears in the upper left and upper right corners, flanked on each side by schematic vignettes of ornamental fountain basins. Bad Hall's notgeld series belongs to the enormous wave of municipal emergency money produced across Austria between 1919 and 1922, when chronic small-coin shortages left towns printing their own fractional currency. Bad Hall, however, had a particular incentive to make its notgeld attractive: the town's identity as an iodine spa resort meant these notes were also sold as collectors' pieces to visiting patients and tourists, a sideline that many Upper Austrian kurorts exploited deliberately during this period.
The JAK/JPR reference places this within the Jansonius catalog of Austrian local issues. Many Bad Hall pieces from this run were printed in limited quantities specifically for the collector trade rather than genuine circulation use.
