10 Heller Altenberg

Austrian municipal notgeld of this type was printed during the severe coin shortage that followed the collapse of the Habsburg economy — small-denomination metal coins had effectively vanished from circulation by 1919, hoarded or melted, leaving village economies to improvise. Hundreds of Austrian gemeinden commissioned their own emergency issues, most through local or regional printers working from submitted artwork.

The Jaksc/Pick reference places this among the documented Altenberg series, with the "b" variant designation suggesting at least two distinct printings or paper types exist for the 10 Heller value. L. Haase as designer is recorded but otherwise obscure in the notgeld literature.
