Bruck im Pinzgau is a small Alpine municipality in the Salzburg region, and this 10 Heller note belongs to the vast wave of Austrian Notgeld issued between 1919 and 1921 — a direct consequence of the coinage shortage that followed the collapse of the Habsburg economy. With the new Republic of Austria struggling to mint sufficient small change, thousands of municipalities printed their own emergency pfennig-denominated scrip, most of it redeemed and destroyed within a year or two of issue.
Anton Posch's signature as the authorizing official is the primary authentication mark. The Jaksc catalog reference 0107-IIb-10 indicates a variant within the Bruck series — the "IIb" suffix suggests a second type, second subvariant.
