Gallspach's 10 Heller Notgeld of 1920 belongs to the wave of locally issued emergency currency that flooded Austria following the collapse of the Habsburg monetary system. With the imperial Krone in freefall and the central authorities unable to supply adequate small change, thousands of Austrian municipalities took printing into their own hands — Gallspach among them.
