| 正面描述 | Central field features the Slovak national shield — a pointed heraldic escutcheon bearing a patriarchal double-barred cross rising from a three-peaked mountain — flanked at the base by two crossed olive branches. The circular legend SLOVENSKÁ REPUBLIKA is inscribed around the upper periphery, with the date flanked by raised dots positioned along the lower rim. The design is rendered in a clean, classically heraldic style with well-defined relief. |

Slovakia's first independent coinage was authorized almost immediately after the clerical-fascist state was proclaimed in March 1939, under the presidency of Jozef Tiso. The 10 halierov was among the inaugural denominations, establishing a currency distinct from the Czechoslovak koruna system the new state had just severed from.
Brass was a practical choice in 1939, but wartime metal pressures made even base-metal coinage a logistical problem by the early 1940s. Production ran only four years before the denomination was effectively superseded by inflation eroding its purchasing utility.
