Reverse description The crowned and mantled coat of arms of Hesse-Darmstadt occupies the central field, featuring a rampant lion on a diagonally striped shield, flanked by elaborate draped mantling surmounted by a grand ducal crown. Below the shield, a Maltese cross flanked by the date appears in the exergue, with the mint-master initials H and R flanking the date. The denomination legend ZEHN GULDEN is divided across the upper field on either side of the crown.
