The Netherlands Antilles maintained its own central bank and currency despite being a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, a legal arrangement that persisted until the territory's dissolution in 2010. This note belongs to a series commissioned from Enschedé in Haarlem — the same firm that has printed Dutch state lottery tickets and postage stamps continuously since the eighteenth century — whose intaglio work on Caribbean issues from this period is notably finer than the notes' modest denominations might suggest.
