Wartime geography makes this note unusual. Curaçao was Dutch-administered but far from occupied Netherlands, and the island's oil refinery — one of the largest in the world at the time — made it strategically critical to Allied fuel supply. Banking had to function. That Enschedé in Haarlem managed to produce notes for the Dutch Caribbean colonies during the German occupation of the Netherlands is the genuinely strange part of this note's existence.
P#26 is scarce in higher grades; the humid Caribbean climate was hard on paper currency in circulation.
