Obverse description Black intaglio on red-brown guilloche underprint. The border is composed of intricate arabesques and volutes. The central vignette presents the coat of arms of Suriname, with two indigenous figures flanking a medallion containing a sailing vessel, surmounted by a crown and supported by the national motto ribbon reading 'Justitia Pietas Fides'. Place and date text is printed centrally, with denomination numeral '10' in each corner. A lower vignette illustrates the arrival of the first Europeans in Suriname, with a welcoming scene, goods unloaded on a beach, and a sailing ship at anchor in a bay. Two manuscript signatures appear below, representing the Director-Secretary and Director-President.
