正面描述 Centered in the field, the Polish White Eagle — the national coat of arms — is depicted displayed with wings spread, head turned to the right, and elaborate feather detailing rendered in low relief. The eagle appears without a crown, consistent with the post-war People's Republic design. The circular legend RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA arcs along the upper periphery, while the date 1949 appears at the base flanked by two raised dots, all within a plain raised rim.

附加信息

Poland's postwar coinage underwent a deliberate material shift in 1949, with aluminum replacing the copper-nickel alloys used in earlier Republican issues — a change driven by Soviet-aligned industrial policy that prioritized strategic metals for reconstruction and rearmament. The 1949 aluminum series was struck at the Warsaw Mint as the People's Republic consolidated its monetary infrastructure under the new communist government, less than a year after the currency reform of 1950 was already being planned.

The aluminum composition makes survivors particularly susceptible to post-mint damage; even handling leaves traces.
