| 表面の説明 | Equestrian portrait of General Toussaint Louverture in full military uniform, shown in right-facing profile astride a rearing horse, rendered in high relief against a plain field with stylized waves and vegetation at the base. The dates 1745-1803, denoting his birth and death years, appear to the right of the figure. The legend REPUBLIQUE D'HAITI curves along the upper left periphery, while GENERAL TOUSSAINT LOUVERTURE is inscribed along the lower arc. The design is framed by a continuous beaded border. |

Haiti's 10 Gourdes silver series of the late 1960s was issued under François Duvalier, who by 1967 had already declared himself President-for-Life and was systematically recasting Haitian national mythology to reinforce his own authority. Invoking Toussaint l'Ouverture served a calculated political purpose — Duvalier positioned himself as the heir to the revolution's founders, a claim he pressed through coinage, currency, and state ritual alike.
The KM#65.1 and 65.2 varieties differ in edge treatment. These were primarily sold to foreign collectors rather than circulated domestically, making worn examples genuinely unusual.
