| Popis rubu | The reverse depicts a stylized frontal representation of the Statue of Zeus at Olympia, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, shown seated upon a grand throne and rendered in frosted relief against a matte background. The enthroned figure of Zeus holds a sceptre in his left hand and a small figure of Nike in his right, faithfully referencing the celebrated chryselephantine sculpture attributed to the ancient Greek sculptor Pheidias. The inscription STATUE OF ZEUS AT OLYMPIA appears in three lines to the upper right of the central design. A row of raised beads decorates the curved right edge of the puzzle-piece flan, echoing the border treatment of the obverse and linking this piece to others in the same interlocking series. |

Burundi has issued commemorative silver in small, targeted runs since the early 2000s, typically through arrangements with European minting houses — this piece almost certainly struck by B.H. Mayer's Kunstprägeanstalt or a comparable contractor rather than any domestic facility. The Seven Wonders series to which this belongs is a well-worn commemorative theme globally, but Burundi's franchise agreements have kept these issues to genuinely limited mintages that secondary markets have absorbed quickly.
The original statue at Olympia, attributed to Pheidias and completed around 435 BC, was reportedly dismantled and moved to Constantinople in late antiquity before being destroyed by fire — though ancient sources disagree on the details.
