| Additional information |
Saint-Barthélemy gained its status as a French overseas collectivity in 2007, having been purchased back from Sweden by France in 1878 — making it the only French territory ever to have been Swedish. Despite issuing its own territorial identity documents and license plates, the collectivity uses the euro and has no mandate to produce its own coinage. This piece exists purely as a privately commissioned pattern, with no monetary authority behind it and no circulation intended.
