| 背面描述 | Central field displays the denomination 10 FRANCS in large numerals with FRANCS below, and the date 1941 beneath, with the word ESSAI inscribed within a lozenge-shaped cartouche below the date. Flanking the central inscription are two crossed sheaves of wheat ears fanning outward symmetrically, symbolizing agricultural labor. In the upper portion, a decorative frieze of grapevine with a hanging bunch of grapes and vine leaves is rendered in fine relief, referencing viticulture. The peripheral legend TRAVAIL FAMILLE PATRIE is distributed on the left, upper, and right sides respectively, separated by scrolling foliate ornaments. The entire design is framed by a rope border and a reeded outer rim. |

The Pétain coinage program of 1941 represented Vichy France's systematic erasure of Republican iconography — "Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité" replaced by "Travail, Famille, Patrie." Multiple sculptors submitted competing essais for the new denominations, and Vézien's trial pieces were among those evaluated but not selected for circulation. The rejected designs were typically struck in small quantities for official review, which is precisely why essais like this one survive in such limited numbers.
