Reverse description Central shield bearing the Cross of Lorraine — the symbol of Free France repurposed here for the Vichy regime — superimposed on a fasces, all set within a plain escutcheon occupying the centre of the field. Two symmetrical olive branches frame the shield on either side. The denomination 10 FRANCS is prominently displayed in the upper field above the shield, with the word ESSAI appearing to the left. The circular legend TRAVAIL · FAMILLE · PATRIE — the motto of the Vichy French State — runs along the lower periphery, with the date 1941 at the base flanked by small decorative stops. A beaded border frames the entire design.
