| 正面描述 | Central motif consisting of a six-pointed star (Star of Solomon) formed by two overlapping triangles, enclosing an ornate five-petaled floret within a circular medallion bearing the Hijri date 1366 in the central band. The star is surrounded by an elaborate arabesque border of interlacing foliate scrollwork filling the inner field. The legend EMPIRE CHERIFIEN arcs along the upper periphery in Latin characters, while an Arabic inscription identifying the Moroccan state and the Paris mint runs along the lower border within the decorative surround. |

Essai pieces from the 1947 Moroccan series were struck at the Paris Mint as official pattern submissions during the postwar reorganization of French Protectorate coinage. Mohammed V had been nominally on the throne since 1927, but French authorities retained full monetary authority — these trial pieces reflect Paris deciding what Moroccan coinage would look like, not Rabat. The irony is considerable: within six years, Mohammed V would be exiled to Madagascar by those same French authorities for nationalist agitation.
