Obverse description Central motif consisting of a six-pointed star (Star of Solomon) formed by two overlapping triangles, enclosing an ornate five-petaled floret within a circular medallion bearing the Hijri date 1366 in the central band. The star is surrounded by an elaborate arabesque border of interlacing foliate scrollwork filling the inner field. The legend EMPIRE CHERIFIEN arcs along the upper periphery in Latin characters, while an Arabic inscription identifying the Moroccan state and the Paris mint runs along the lower border within the decorative surround.
