Obverse description Central field features the AH date 1366 enclosed within a small circle formed by a doubled tri-lobe (trefoil) star motif, the entire design set within a beaded inner circle. An ornate band of interlacing Moorish arabesque scrollwork surrounds the central device. Additional information

Morocco's postwar coinage underwent a quiet administrative shift in 1947: though the French Protectorate remained firmly in place, the Monnaie de Paris began crediting Mohammed V more explicitly on circulating issues — a small concession that carried real political weight as nationalist sentiment in the Maghreb accelerated sharply after France's wartime humiliations. Mohammed V himself would be deposed and exiled to Madagascar by French authorities just six years later, in 1953.
