The Democratic Republic of Congo has issued commemorative silver under the Banque Centrale du Congo since the early 2000s, many produced by European mints for the collector market rather than domestic circulation. KM#180a is the silver variant of a base-metal type, distinguished by the .925 fineness — a detail that matters when sorting through the muddled catalog of Congo fish-series issues, several of which share design families but differ sharply in composition and mintage.
