Additional information

The source painting, *Dame mit dem Hut* (also known as *Lady in a Green Jacket*), was completed by August Macke in 1913, just a year before he was killed on the Western Front at Perthes-lès-Hurlus in September 1914, aged 27. Macke was one of the founding members of Der Blaue Reiter alongside Franz Marc, and his death cut short what many considered the most naturally gifted colorist in the German Expressionist movement.

The DRC's late-2000s painted coin series was produced for the collector market, with no meaningful circulation intended.
