Reverse description A full-color reproduction of August Macke's 1913 Expressionist painting 'The Lady in a Green Jacket' (Dame in grüner Jacke) is presented within an ornately decorated rectangular frame, rendered in vibrant polychrome enamel coloring. The composition faithfully reproduces the original oil painting's bold use of color and simplified forms, depicting a seated female figure wearing a distinctive green jacket set against a richly colored background. The decorative border surrounding the painting features intricate geometric and floral motifs, enhancing the presentation of the artwork. The mirrored silver-plated surface of the frame provides an elegant contrast to the colorized central image.

Additional information

The source painting, *Dame mit dem Hut* (also known as *Lady in a Green Jacket*), was completed by August Macke in 1913, just a year before he was killed on the Western Front at Perthes-lès-Hurlus in September 1914, aged 27. Macke was one of the founding members of Der Blaue Reiter alongside Franz Marc, and his death cut short what many considered the most naturally gifted colorist in the German Expressionist movement.

The DRC's late-2000s painted coin series was produced for the collector market, with no meaningful circulation intended.
