| 备注 |
Allied Military Currency for France was produced in the United States beginning in 1944, part of a massive printing program coordinated by the U.S. Treasury and the Allied command ahead of the Normandy landings. The French provisional government under de Gaulle bitterly opposed the scheme — he viewed the notes as a form of occupation currency and refused to authorize them, arguing that printing money for France without French consent was an affront to sovereignty. The dispute was genuine and lasting; de Gaulle never fully forgave Roosevelt for it.
Forbes Lithograph in Boston handled a portion of the run using a simplified lithographic process, deliberately avoiding the intaglio work of conventional banknote printing to allow faster mass production.
