The 9th series was the most technically ambitious Swiss currency project in decades, years in development and repeatedly delayed — the 10 Franc note finally entered circulation in April 2017 despite carrying a 2016 print date. Manuela Pfrunder's designs broke sharply from the 8th series conventions, generating genuine public debate about the direction of Swiss visual identity in official documents.
Durasafe, the hybrid substrate developed by Landqart, combines paper with a polymer core — stiffer than pure polymer, more durable than cotton alone. Switzerland was among the earliest adopters at a national level.
