A blind embossed relief point in the left text field serves as an accessibility code for the visually impaired. |

The 6th series was designed by Ernst and Ursula Hiestand and approved in the early 1970s, but the SNB delayed its release for years — the 7th series was actually in development before the 6th had fully entered circulation. That overlap is unusual and reflects the SNB's notoriously cautious, long-cycle approach to banknote replacement. The series ultimately ran from 1976 to 1992 depending on denomination, with the 10 Francs issued across an exceptionally wide window of dated signatures.
Over thirty distinct signature combinations are catalogued for this single denomination, reflecting normal staff turnover at the SNB across the 1979–1992 production run. The variation has made this an active area for type collectors, with certain combinations — particularly the later Gerber pairings — considerably harder to locate in issued form.
