Printed in violet tones, the obverse is dominated by a large central oval guilloche frame enclosing the principal inscriptions and denomination. Two circular medallion vignettes flank the central text: at left, a portrait of an indigenous or colonial male figure in profile facing right, and at right, a female head in profile facing left in a classical allegorical style. Foliage and decorative scrollwork surround the medallions, with a small star at the apex of the frame, and a cartouche at the foot bearing the counterfeiting penalty clause. The word SPECIMEN is overprinted diagonally across the face, with a manuscript signature in blue ink for the Caissier position. |
