| Obverse description | The face is printed in dark green on a light ground, with the French-language text. A large central guilloche rosette fills the interior field, flanked on the left by the interlaced BNB monogram. The denomination numeral '10' appears in the upper corners within framed cartouches, and the large italic numeral '10 FRANCS' is set to the right of the guilloche. Belgium was under German occupation when this note was printed, which makes its London origin the whole story. The Belgian government-in-exile maintained financial institutions in Britain throughout the war, and De La Rue produced this series to support that continuity — notes intended for use after liberation rather than under occupation.
The 2 Belgas denomination is a relic. The belga, equal to five francs, had been introduced in 1926 as a trade unit and was quietly dropped after the war. This note is among the last to carry it.
