This piece belongs to the Democratic Republic of Congo's extensive commemorative program of the early 2000s, which licensed dozens of transportation-themed subjects with no meaningful connection to Congolese history. The Peugeot Vis-à-Vis being commemorated is the 1892 model — one of the earliest Peugeot automobiles, powered by a Panhard-Levassor V-twin engine under a Peugeot-branded chassis, at a time when Armand Peugeot had not yet broken from Les Fils de Peugeot Frères to found his independent automobile company, which he did in 1896.
