| Obverse description | Central field features a faithful numismatic adaptation of Gustav Klimt's celebrated painting 'The Kiss' (1907-08), depicting a couple entwined in an embrace rendered in finely detailed relief, with ornate geometric and floral patterned robes filling the lower field. The male figure, shown in profile, bends to kiss the cheek of the female figure, whose face is turned upward with eyes closed. The monogram 'RF' (République Française) appears to the right in the field, with the date '1997' below it. The legend 'LE BAISER DE KLIMT' arcs along the upper rim. |
