Obverse description A faithful reproduction of Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres's celebrated neoclassical painting 'La Source' (1856) occupies the central field, depicting a standing female nude in full-length facing view, her right arm raised above her head and both hands supporting a tall amphora from which water flows at her feet, with aquatic vegetation in the lower exergue. The monogram 'RF' (République Française) appears in large characters at the lower left of the field, with the date '1996' directly below. The legend 'LA SOURCE' curves along the upper left periphery, and the artist's signature 'J. Ingres' is inscribed at the lower right in script lettering.
