The effigy is rendered in a bold, high-relief style characteristic of early seventeenth-century Habsburg portraiture. The surrounding legend, in notably large capital letters, runs along the outer rim and identifies the emperor by his full imperial and royal titles. |

The mintmark appears in the field at the feet of the eagle, outside the inner circle. The reverse legend, separated by stops, records the emperor's hereditary titles as Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy, and Count of Tyrol, followed by the date and mint mark. |
