| Obverse description | Right-facing laureate bust of Ferdinand II with broad flowing curls, draped with a necklace and the collar of the Order of the Golden Fleece, the pendant of which breaks through the inner beaded circle. The effigy is rendered in a bold, high-relief style characteristic of early seventeenth-century Habsburg portraiture. The surrounding legend, in notably large capital letters, runs along the outer rim and identifies the emperor by his full imperial and royal titles. |

| Reverse description | Beneath the imperial crown, a double-headed eagle displayed, holding a sword in the dexter talon and a scepter in the sinister, bears on its breast a twofold coat of arms comprising the Árpád dynastic stripes of Hungary and the Hungarian double cross rising from a crowned triple hill. The mintmark appears in the field at the feet of the eagle, outside the inner circle. The reverse legend, separated by stops, records the emperor's hereditary titles as Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy, and Count of Tyrol, followed by the date and mint mark. |
