Additional information

Beatrix ascended to the Dutch throne in 1980 when her mother Juliana abdicated — a constitutional tradition the House of Orange has followed consistently since Wilhelmina stepped down in 1948. Her silver jubilee in 2005 coincided with a period of ongoing discussion about Aruba's constitutional status within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the island having achieved its separate Status Aparte from the Netherlands Antilles in 1986.

Aruba's commemorative gold output is modest by any measure, and the 6.72g .900 fine specification here follows the same fractional standard used across the Kingdom's jubilee issues of the period.
