Aruba's commemorative coinage program has always operated on a small scale — the island's total population hovers around 100,000 — making authorized mintages modest by design. This piece marks the 2002 marriage of Crown Princess Beatrix's son, Prince Willem-Alexander, to Máxima Zorreguieta, a union that drew scrutiny in the Netherlands partly because Máxima's father had served in Argentina's military junta during the Dirty War and was asked not to attend the wedding ceremony.
