| 表面の説明 | Bare-headed effigy of King Ghazi I facing left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair combed back. The truncation of the neck is clean and unadorned. Arabic legends flank the portrait on either side of the field, reading 'Ghazi I, King of Iraq.' The design was executed by engraver Percy Metcalfe and is set within the distinctive twelve-notch scalloped flan. |

Ghazi I ruled Iraq from 1933 until his death in April 1939, when he was killed in a car crash widely believed — especially among Iraqi nationalists — to have been arranged by the British. These coins were struck across just two years of his short reign, and the political turbulence surrounding his rule makes surviving examples from regular circulation relatively scarce in better grades. His vocal pan-Arab sympathies and open hostility toward the British mandate establishment made him a deeply inconvenient king.
