Sokszorosító Ipar Részvénytársaság — "Reproduction Industry Joint Stock Company" — was a Budapest printing and duplicating firm, not a bank or municipality. Its emergency scrip from 1921 belongs to the szükségpénz phenomenon that flooded Hungary following the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian krone system and the severe coin shortage of the early postwar years. Hundreds of private companies, cooperatives, and factories issued their own low-denomination tokens and paper chits during this period simply to make change.
The Adamo catalogue remains the primary reference for Hungarian szükségpénz, though coverage of minor corporate issuers like this one is uneven.
