| Reverse description | A coiled Chinese imperial dragon rendered in high relief occupies the central field, its scaled body encircling a flaming pearl beneath its chest, with claws and whiskers extending dynamically outward. The dragon's head faces forward in three-quarter view with prominent horns and open jaws. The circular Latin legend 'HU-PEH PROVINCE' arcs across the upper periphery, while '7.2 CANDAREENS' appears along the lower periphery, each separated by small six-pointed rosette stops. A finely toothed milled border frames the entire design. |

Hupeh Province was one of the most active regional minting centers in late Qing China, operating semi-autonomously from the central Board of Revenue. The Xuantong reign lasted only three years before the 1911 Revolution ended dynastic rule entirely, making issues from this period inherently short-lived in production. Many provincial mints were seized or shut down during the upheaval, cutting output abruptly.
Y#129 is among the final silver issues attributable to the Hupeh mint under imperial authority.
