Obverse description Central field bears four large Chinese characters arranged vertically and horizontally reading Guangxu Yuanbao (光緒元寶), denoting the imperial reign title and currency designation. A dotted inner border separates the central legend from the outer annulus, which carries the bilingual legend KWANG-TUNG PROVINCE in Latin script at the top and the denomination 7 3/10 CANDAREENS in Latin script at the bottom. Manchu script flanks the central field on both sides within the annulus. The design is purely typographic with no pictorial effigy, rendered in a bold, incuse style consistent with late Qing provincial pattern coinage.
