| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse bears a colored effigy of the French artist Yves Klein shown in a three-quarter pose, his right hand visibly coated with his iconic International Klein Blue (IKB) pigment, poised to apply paint to a canvas beyond the coin's frame. The composition references Klein's celebrated 'Anthropometry' performance works of the early 1960s. The artist's name 'Yves Klein' appears as a legend to the left of the figure, and the year of issue '2012' is inscribed to the right, both in raised Latin lettering. The IKB blue coloring applied to the hand provides a striking chromatic contrast against the silver field. |

Issued as part of Monnaie de Paris's "Grands Peintres" series, this coin commemorates Yves Klein, the French artist who in 1960 registered his signature ultramarine pigment as International Klein Blue — a color he had formally patented in 1957. Klein died of a heart attack in 1962 at 34, making the fiftieth anniversary of his death the occasion for this release.
The coin was struck the same year France reissued broader cultural commemoratives under tightened eurozone fiscal scrutiny, when collector silver had become one of Monnaie de Paris's few reliably profitable product lines.
