Additional information

The Van Nellefabriek in Rotterdam was built between 1925 and 1931 for the Van Nelle company's coffee, tea, and tobacco processing operations. Designed by Leendert van der Vlugt with input from Mart Stam, it became one of the defining works of Dutch Functionalism and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014 — just one year before this coin was issued, almost certainly the direct occasion for it.

The Netherlands has issued commemorative gold tens sporadically under Willem-Alexander, typically tying releases to significant cultural or architectural anniversaries.
