Reverse description A diagonal line bisects the reverse into two distinct halves with contrasting finishes. The upper section, rendered in a matte finish, displays two elements of the Amsterdam coat of arms depicted in the heraldic style of circa 1350. At the centre, the three St. Andrew's crosses emblematic of the Amsterdam arms appear prominently. The lower half, in polished relief, bears the commemorative inscription 'AMSTERDAM 750 JAAR' alongside the date range '1275 - 2025' and the face value '€ 10', all in modern lettering.

Additional information

Amsterdam's founding date of 1274 rests on a single document — a toll privilege granted by Count Floris V exempting the inhabitants of "Amstelledamme" from tolls throughout Holland. The city has anchored its entire origin mythology to that charter ever since, making 2024's 750th anniversary a celebration of one medieval tax exemption.
