Part of Monnaie de Paris's ongoing series celebrating Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's 1943 novella, this piece was issued as France holds perpetual rights to the intellectual property through the Saint-Exupéry estate, which has partnered selectively with the mint on collector issues since the early 2000s. Saint-Exupéry himself disappeared over the Mediterranean in July 1944 while flying a reconnaissance mission — his Lockheed P-38 was only identified on the seafloor off Marseille in 2004.
